Think Yellow, Think Rage

Yellow makes me happy. I am thinking of sunshine, lemons in my garden and the festive portraits of imperial China.

More down to earth I am always hunting for accessories in yellow as it is just too bright and prominent for an entire outfit. In Cape Town Rage is the answer. Their shoes are all Made in China and for one season only. Anyway, who would want to wear the same shoes forever. They are so affordable that you can indulge in unusual colours. Add a yellow scarf and your plain grey dress is immediately beefed up.

Colours talk to each other. Yellow gets a whole new meaning when combined with shimmering
purple velvet. I did so in Valetta, the ancient and most picturesque capital of Malta. There is a church for every day in the year. So, my velvet suit hinting at the colour of a Roman-catholic bishop’s robe seemed appropriate. Valetta is all about exuberance and showing off. In the bright sunshine of the Mediterranean Indian summer I flashed my new ring comprising a heliodor and an amethyst from the mines in the Erongo mountains of Namibia and hand made by my favourite jeweller Atelier Lilor in France.

Maltese knights of St. John did not pass by, but I indulged in visiting their palaces and strolling in their magnificent gardens.

At a Tao temple in Singapore I witnessed a ceremony bursting with yellow, the ultimate venerable colour of ancient China.
